my favorite game to play...

Hi Reader,

I like to do this thing in my life and business where I play a game called: what's working and what's not working.

It's a simple way to evaluate your life to help you do less of the stuff that's not working and more of the things that are!

Here's my list for this week...

WHAT'S WORKING FOR ME:

  • Getting as much help as possible (with business stuff and baby stuff - I think I need outsource MORE things)
  • Working at coffee shops and libraries
  • Paper plates
  • Consistent emails to my list
  • Focusing on current clients and referrals over a bunch of new marketing for my business
  • Writing monthly income reports for my business
  • Weekly marriage meetings with my husband to make sure we are on the same page.
  • Listening to these Nancy Drew ambiance Youtube videos

WHAT'S NOT WORKING:

  • Sleeeeeeep...I'm sleeping terribly and it's a combination of a bunch of different things but mostly my 4-month-old baby.
  • No consistent childcare
  • How small our house is
  • Meetings - I'm really minimizing meetings in this season of life. They take up a lot of time and eat into my work time.

I try to do this every 2-3 weeks to see what's coming up for me. It's a really simple way to keep a pulse on I want to work on and change.

-Mara

PS- Speaking of things working, something new I'm trying out on my podcast this week are super short episodes (around 10 minutes)!

Holy Moley Reader,I spent $22,530.97 in my business last year. Yep. Ouch - That’s the real number I pulled off of my spreadsheet. Honestly - this isn’t quite as bad as it sounds. $4,458.07 were fees from Paypal or Stripe which is just a part of doing business. About $5k of the contractor expenses were for a very specific one-time project I did for bigger corporate type of company where I needed to sub-contract out a specific piece of the project. It’s not something I typically do in my biz so...

Hey Reader, I finally published my income report for September 2024. 🎉 It's super late...I know. In case you didn't know I live in Tampa, Florida and was subjected to the torment of hurricane Milton. We're safe. Our home is safe. We didn't have any damage or flooding minus a few branches falling down, but we did lose power for 6 days. 📷 Pic of my baby wayfaring around our house in the dark with a lantern It's amazing how fast you start to go stir crazy with no power (and a 12 month old who...

Hey, there This email landed in my inbox on Monday 👇 About a year ago I set an intention that I wanted to be on more podcasts and in the last 365 days I've been featured on 34 different podcasts. ...which isn't too shabby considering I had a baby, went on maternity leave and kept up with a busy client work load during that time. The even crazier thing...I didn't pitch myself for any of the podcasts I was asked to be a guest on. 🤯 You should totally go listen to this podcast episode by the...
