my february recap (numbers inside!)

Hey Reader,

February taught me TWO things.

1. Rolling babies cause chaos.

2. And public accountability works!

One of these kept me awake at 2am.

The other is the reason I finally started making real progress on one of my big goals for 2026.

Here's a full recap of my February!

Income: $7,752.68
Expenses: $1,588.53

All of my money this month came from one-to-one client work.

Mostly retainer clients that I work with month after month.

No affiliate income.

No digital product sales.

Just good old-fashioned client work - which I do actually enjoy.

What I spent money on this month

→ My website hosting renewed ($326 — Showit, affiliate link)

→ My (Convert)Kit account renewed ($590 — also an affiliate link)

→ Some fairly boring office supplies (printer ink, computer paper, a bunch of pens, new laptop case)

→ We also finally finished the accent wall in my husband's office

Meanwhile my office still looks like this 👇 because I’m deeply incapable of making decorating decisions.

So that’s… still a work in progress.

How are my 2026 goals going?

1️⃣ Launch a new digital offer

LOTS of progress here!

And honestly writing last month’s recap (where I had to admit I made zero progress on this while launching multiple client offers) was the push I needed.

So I finally started working on it.

If you want a sneak peek when it’s ready, you can click here and I’ll put you on the waitlist.

I’ll give you one hint: it has something to do with writing really good emails.

I know that’s a little mysterious right now, but I promise I’ll share more soon.

2️⃣ Consistent weekly emails

Doing it and you're reading one of them!

3️⃣ Create 3 new opt-ins

One of these is officially in the works! One of the best ways you grow your business is regularly creating new things that people want.

4️⃣ Save at least $24,000 for retirement

Still waiting on final tax numbers before making any moves here.

5️⃣ Upgrade and organize our home

Some progress here!

  • The aforementioned accent wall.
  • I also got this crayon caddy (← affiliate link) to corral all of our toddler art supplies.
  • And I asked my childhood best friend to help me organize our pantry when she visits in a couple of weeks.

Other Life Stuff

My four-month-old learned how to roll over this month.

Which was very exciting… until he started rolling onto his stomach at 2am and waking up confused about how to get back.

I also completely cleaned out my business inbox and reorganized all my labels, which felt SO SATISFYING.

Overall February felt really steady.

Client work is going well, and some behind-the-scenes projects in my business are finally moving.

I love the feeling of momentum.

❤️ Mara

P.S. — Did you notice the new email template?

I custom-coded it so people can choose what kinds of emails they want from me. I also tried to make it feel less like a newsletter and more like I’m just writing to a friend.

Hey Reader, I had four different ideas for this email… and couldn’t pick just one. So here’s a hodgepodge of things I think you might like: 1. This video about people using AI to write emails. It spirals into chaos by the end and will probably make you laugh. 2. I open this website when I need to stop procrastinating3. I’m speaking at the Courses + Memberships Summit* this week (tickets are free) I’m excited for Laura Robinson’s talk about what happened when she added a high-touch option to...

Hey Reader, Look at these two Candy Land boards. (Seriously. Don’t read ahead. Just look.) Old Candy Land. New Candy Land. What do you notice? For me, the first one feels calm. The second one feels like it’s yelling at me. I saw this comparison on Instagram the other day, and I haven’t stopped thinking about it. The original video was about kids and overstimulation, but my brain went straight to business. Because the longer you’re in business, the more you add. …Another offer.…Another...

Hey Reader, It turns out I’ve been lying to myself. I’ve been telling myself that I’m “barely working” right now. Which feels believable when you have a 2-year-old and a 3-month-old and your brain has 47 tabs open at all times. But instead of trusting the feeling, I decided to check. Last week, I tracked every single hour of my time. All 168 of them. Pink = time with my kidsBlue = workOrange = house stuff/cleaning/errandsLight pink = "free time" Purple = sleep If you want to see the full...
